ONCOLOGY CARE
Cancer Rehab Physio & Oncology Massage
Are you looking for a qualified healthcare professional to help guide you through your Cancer journey back to health?
According to the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia, exercise should be prescribed as part of routine cancer care for every patient. The key is to be prescribed the RIGHT type of exercise.
That’s where we can help.
Cancer Rehab
Tara McKenzie is a certified PINC Cancer Rehab Physio. PINC & STEEL helps those with cancer take their first steps on the road to recovery.
As we specialise in the treatment of women at Central Coast Physiolates, our focus is on the PINC (for women) Cancer Rehabilitation program (STEEL being the program for men).
What is PINC cancer rehabilitation?
Rehabilitation is as important for people after cancer as it is for people who have undergone major surgery like a hip or knee replacement. If you have just been through a cancer journey and you don’t undertake rehabilitation, your ability to return to normal life and your long term health could be impacted.
PINC for women is specifically designed to help you:
Maximise your recovery
Regain physical and emotional strength
Ease muscular tension and pain
Increase energy
Strengthen core muscles and improve posture
Improve confidence in and control of your body
Reduce the side effects of treatment
PINC is suitable for all ages, fitness and mobility levels and following any type of cancer surgery or treatment.
Our PINC Cancer Rehab services include:
Physical and functional assessment
Manual physiotherapy
Fatigue management
Resistance training
A personalised Clinical Pilates exercise program
Ask us about the 4 stages of the PINC Program and how it perfectly aligns with the phases of recovery, from pre-op to a return to work and normal life.
Oncology Massage
Oncology Massage is a specialised massage technique designed for people undergoing cancer treatment.
It aims to alleviate the physical, mental and emotional discomfort associated with cancer symptoms and some of the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Benefits shown in research studies and anecdotally from our patients include:
Reduced fatigue
Better sleep
Relief from pain
Reduced nausea
Less anxiety
Reduced fluid build up
Unlike Remedial Massage, Oncology Massage is a soft, gentle form of massage that must be performed by Therapists qualified in the technique. Our massage therapist, Alison Edge is qualified in Oncology Massage and will look after you with great care and her renowned expert touch.
