Hi, I’m Deb Hart and I completed training as a remedial massage therapist in 1995 and commenced Bowen training in 1998. Fascial Kinetics gave me my initial grounding in this technique with training provided by Gill Taylor and Russell Sturgess. In 2007 I gained my Diploma of Bowen Therapy with Smart Bowen and my Diploma of Remedial Massage through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
I have training in Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (Casley-Smith), Oncology Massage levels 1-4 which included hospital based training at the Austin Hospital in Victoria, Clinical Nutrition and Cert IV TAA. In March of 2017 I completed a Diploma of Dementia Care with the University of Tasmania which provided me with a deeper understanding of neurological issues and the ageing population.
Training and involvement with Oncology Massage Training taught me how to adapt massage principles for those in frail health and I have now adapted all my skills learnt over the past 20+ years to offer them to Bowen and other touch therapists so that they too may understand how to work safely and effectively with this client population.
I am a member of the Bowen Therapists Federation of Australia, Massage and Myotherapy Australia (formerly AAMT), Australasian Lymphology Association, Palliative Care Association of SA and the Lymphoedema Support Group SA.
Based in the northern suburbs of Adelaide I have worked closely with nearby allied health to build up a busy practice with an increased focus on those clients with degenerative conditions and in particular cancer. For over three years I provided massage and Bowen therapy to the Palliative Care ward at a local hospital which allowed me to witness firsthand the profound effect safe touch can have at any stage of life.
