“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Lao Tzu
Hello, and welcome to my listing. My name is Marie Theriault. I am an oncology trained E-RYT-200 Yoga Teacher with well over 1,000 hours of teaching experience. I also teach Qigong and Tai Chi mindful movement exercise classes virtually on Zoom and in person at my home studio in Wesley Chapel, NC.
My interest in Yoga for Cancer began during my brother’s hospitalization for non-hodgkins lymphoma. I was a caregiver to him and his two small children during this time. I saw first hand how he suffered through treatments and was left with many debilitating side effects that rendered him disabled. Today, he is doing much better, but it was a long and painful recovery. Witnessing his journey opened my heart to the suffering that a cancer patient endures. I knew I wanted to use my training as a Yoga, Qigong and Tai Chi teacher to bring comfort and peace to people whose lives have been touched by cancer.
I sincerely believe in the ability of these modalities to lessen side effects from harsh treatments and safely and effectively rebuild strength and stamina. These classes also teach life skills to cope with stress and soothe turbulent emotions. They help you feel better, and feeling better is what its all about!
My classes are offered at a reduced rate to cancer patients and caregivers. Please copy and paste the following link into your browser to see more information, register for class(es), or to request a free 15 minute telephone consultation: https://forms.office.com/r/6JWDXSfVaS

It was my integrative medicine supportive oncologist who connected me to Marie’s classes. She recommended that I try Marie’s chair yoga and Tai Chi classes. And I’m so glad she did. Marie is an excellent teacher. Her pacing is relaxed, and her instructions are clear. Her courses have provided me with just what I’ve needed regarding movement, breathing techniques, and relaxation as I recover from cancer/effects of chemotherapy. I continue to improve my mental and physical balance as I gain strength with each session. I always leave each of Marie’s sessions feeling encouraged and invigorated.
I’ve had the pleasure of attending Marie’s classes for over 5 years. Marie is inspiring, patient, caring, gentle and prepared. Marie’s passion for teaching and her generosity in sharing, all she knows, is empowering to her students. Thank you Marie for all you’ve patiently taught me over these years.
I have only been with Marie for several months. She is so gentle and kind. Very knowledgeable in Qigong and Yoga and willing to share her information. Marie has been a great help to getting me on the road to recovery,
Thank you Marie!
Marie has been the most incredible instructor touching the disciplines of Yoga, Tai Chi, and Qigong. She is great at explaining the basics of each form and the proper way to preform the exercises. Marie make the class fun and I look forward to each class. She is the most caring and thoughtful person I have dealt with during my illness. Thanks Marie for all you do!
I have been a “Watch and Wait” cancer survivor for over 12 years and have significant arthritis in my joints. I was introduced to Marie and her teaching of Qigong and T’ai chi 10 months ago. Over theses past months, with Marie’s skillful, patient teaching, I have gained strength and resilience in body, mind and spirit. I learn something new with each session. I also use her techniques to help with anxiety and sleep. I am so grateful that Marie continues to share her gifts and look forward to her teaching and encouragement in the future.
Marie is amazing. She has a soft demeanor and an infectious laugh. Classes are always informative, easy to follow, and fun. She does not just teach the movements, she also gives the meaning behind them and how they will help heal our bodies. She goes above and beyond to help each one of us feel better. I’m so glad I found her!
Marie’s classes are both the best I’ve ever taken and the least costly. Her caring, gentle manner leaves me feeling uplifted on even my most fatigued days. The movements are all things I can do despite my many physical limitations. You cannot buy the level of caring she brings to her patients. I try hard to schedule my many appointments around her classes because they make my body (and soul ) feel so good.
I have been a student of Marie’s classes for about a year and a half . I began September 4, 2020, three months after lung cancer surgery and a 3rd round of chemotherapy. My life was quite difficult then with many interruptions in my schedule (immunotherapy reactions and hospitalizations). I began with Qigong and also participated in occupational and physical therapy along with being on oxygen from January 2021- April 2021.
My physicians and therapists saw the many improvements I made from Marie’s class. June 2021, I began taking all three of her classes: Yoga, Tai Chi, and Qigong. Clinical trial meds and her teaching style helped me improve my total health: mind, body, and soul. Marie did not just focus on poses and movements, she also provided background information on the Traditional Chinese Medicine related to all three of her classes. I constantly read and speak to others about the three techniques, and the benefits I have experienced. She has made a positive difference in my health and attitude toward life, and I am very thankful for her knowledge, time, and spirit.
I recommend Marie’s video classes to anyone who is looking for a gentle but thorough body stretch. She was my yoga teacher before my breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, so I am doubly familiar with the need to keep moving, stretching and building bone density. She is equally skilled in her instruction of Qigong and Tai Chi. She demonstrates and explains the moves as well as their healing benefits in a kind patient manor. Her video class is easy to follow and paced so that both novices and advanced students can both gain benefits. Though there is a focus on cancer survivorship, Marie’s teaching is appropriate for everyone. She has and still is making positive effects on my life and health.
I highly recommend Marie’s yoga and Tai Chi classes. She is an incredible instructor! She breaks down the moves into steps that are easy to follow. Marie’s advice and instruction has helped me to move gently while recovering from chemo treatments and surgery. I really appreciate her explanations of how the exercises benefit us and what we can do to improve our health. Her kind and patient approach has improved my overall well-being while I am learning about mudras, Chinese medicine, Tai Chi and Qigong. Her approach to teaching is suitable for anybody dealing with health issues not just cancer.
I first heard about Marie Theriault on the Anticancer Lifestyle Program’s blog. She wrote an interesting article about qigong for spring and shared a video.
I liked it so much I reached out to her and I’ve been taking her classes online for a couple of months now. In addition to qigong, I’ve been taking Tai Chi and just added her yoga class as well.
Marie is a fantastic teacher, a wealth of knowledge, easy to follow, very patient, gracious and funny.
She takes the time to help me understand the symbolism behind the movements and gives easy modifications.
FYI I’m 2 1/2 years in a cancer recurrence. I feel Marie’s classes give me time to pause, get focused. I feel so much better during and after the classes. Calm, energized, ready to continue with my day.
Marie’s style truly resonates with me. Please do try one of her classes and see for yourself!
